This regional planning studio focused on Philadelphia’s Wissahickon Creek watershed, which encompasses an area of 64 square miles and includes 15 municipalities in Montgomery County and the City of Philadelphia. The Wissahickon Creek begins in Montgomery Township and flows for about 27 miles, where it meets with the Schuylkill River. The watershed includes extensive park and recreational facilities, and is also a source of drinking water for the City of Philadelphia. Students engaged with active non-profit, non-governmental community groups such as The Friends of the Wissahickon , which served as the putative client for the project. Students worked closely with these organizations to produce innovative, interactive visualizations of the regulatory environment of the Wissahickon to serve their current community-based needs.
