Support for Outreach Studios / Spring 2012
The goal of this grant is to enhance and support community based studios. Funds may be used to improve the quality and quantity of community engagement in such studios. The maximum requested amount for each proposal is $ 500. No match is required, but matching funds will be considered in the evaluation process. Funds can be used to support student travel, to buy supplies/materials, and for production of reports/presentation materials. Payment will be made through a Hamer Center cost center account.
Up to four grants will be awarded for the Spring 2012 semester. The application deadline is Friday, January 20, 2012 by 5pm. Successful applications will be announced on February 1, 2012.
This grant program is open to School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture (SALA) faculty engaged in studio teaching, individually or in teams. Funds will be available in Spring 2012. All grant money must be spent or encumbered by May 31, 2012. All remaining grant funds not spent during the stipulated period will be revoked.
Selection Process & Committee
All submittals will be ranked based on the following selection criteria:
• Relevance of the studio to the Hamer Center mission (please see mission statement on the website)
• Quality of the community engagement component of the studio
Decisions about the award will be determined through review and discussion by the selection committee.
The selection committee will consist of the Hamer Center Advisory Board, the Hamer Center Director and other faculty with expertise in the subject area as necessary. Faculty members on the selection committee are not eligible to vote if submitting a proposal.
Funding and Award Amounts
The selection committee has the discretion to award less than the maximum amount requested. If the committee decides to award less than the total requested, the applicant will be required to revise the scope of work and budget accordingly.
Format and Submittal
Proposals must be written in 12-point font, one-inch margins, and may not to exceed two (2) pages double-spaced. This does not include a separate, one (1) page Project Budget. Proposals must be submitted electronically as a PDF document.
The proposal narrative should address the following:
i. Names and contact information for PI and Co-PI’s
ii. Title of Project
iii. Project Description, including how the grant funds will be used to enhance community engagement
iv. Statement of Relevance to the Hamer Center’s Mission
v. Project Schedule
vi. Budget (separate page)
Proposals must be electronically delivered no later than 5 pm on Friday, January 20, 2012, to Barbara Cutler (firstname.lastname@example.org).
