A New Genera(tion)tor for Design/Build Studios
Curriculum-Based Project
Design/Build Implementation
Year Of Project:
2011
Project Summary:

Penn State’s Department of Architecture has a long history of design/build projects. Particularly in First Year Studio, we are committed to the active and applied learning that accompanies hands-on instruction. Presently, we are not doing a project that directly serves a particular community: however, we are developing prototypes of material, method and design that, we hope, will be applied to Hamer Center Projects in the very near future. Our current projects at The Penn State ReCycling Center and The Center for Sustainability will be a showcase of projects that, with the Hamer Center’s help [of providing funds for on-site construction materials], will inspire communities to say “we want one of those,” or, allow us to say to them, “This is what we could do for you.”
